Rouen
Rouen is rightly considered a jewel of Northern France, renowned for its remarkable architecture and rich history. The Old Market Square witnessed the execution of Joan of Arc, while the beautifully preserved medieval half-timbered houses are considered a classic example of this architectural style in Europe. Rouen has inspired many great artists: Gustave Flaubert wrote Madame Bovary here, and Claude Monet created his famous series of Impressionist paintings.
